The BR Grip Pro is a unisex riding glove in synthetic leather, where BR lets the non-slip material itself provide the grip. The material is soft and supple, the palm has a rein reinforcement, and elastic inserts at the wrist and on the back of the hand work with the adjustable hook-and-loop fastening to give a close fit. Packed per pair and machine washable.
About these riding gloves
With the Grip Pro, BR lets the grip come from the material itself. The main material is 100% polyurethane, a synthetic leather that BR describes as hard-wearing, soft, supple and non-slip. BR mentions no separate grip insert: the main material itself is non-slip, and BR does not assign it to one zone.
The palm has a rein reinforcement, an extra layer where the rein runs through your hand. BR adds an honest caveat of its own: the one-year warranty covers defects in material, stitching and manufacture, not wear and tear, and using grippy non-slip reins, lead ropes and lunge lines in particular shortens the glove's life. BR sums this up itself as grip against grip.
For the fit, BR names three elements: elastic inserts at the wrist, elastic inserts on the back of the hand and an adjustable hook-and-loop fastening. There is no lining: BR leaves the lining field empty, so this is not a lined winter glove. BR makes no statement about breathability for the Grip Pro; within the brand, that is the feature of the model with mesh inserts.
The care is clearly set out. Machine washable at 30 °C, no fabric softener, close the hook-and-loop fastening before washing or use a separate laundry bag, then dry flat or hang up in a ventilated room, and not in the tumble dryer.
In dressage, gloves are compulsory. Internationally the rules call for white, off-white or the colour of the jacket; Paardensport Vlaanderen prescribes white, buff or the colour of the jacket. The black and navy versions therefore only fit there with a jacket in the same colour. In the eventing dressage test, black is explicitly permitted. In showjumping and cross-country, gloves are not compulsory but are permitted, and there is no colour requirement. In driving they are compulsory for the driver and for the groom, which in itself justifies a second pair. With the LRV they are optional, with white preferred for dressage. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly: check the current rules of your own federation.
BR explicitly lists this model as unisex and publishes one size guide for its gloves, measured as hand circumference. The manufacturer does not state the country of production.
