The Kentucky Sheepskin Girth is a long girth with a soft layer of artificial sheepskin against the horse. You use it with saddles that have short girth straps, such as a jumping or eventing saddle, for everyday schooling and hacking. Elastic at both ends, 3 D-rings for schooling aids and a girth that goes straight into the washing machine make it a simple, practical everyday girth.
About this girth
Kentucky calls this model the Sheepskin Girth; on the Dutch site it is listed as "wol/Bont" (wool/fur). Don't let that name mislead you: this is neither real wool nor real sheepskin. The soft layer is artificial sheepskin on a nylon fleece lining, a material Kentucky describes as entirely animal friendly.
There is elastic at both ends. Kentucky uses it on both sides to equalise the tension between left and right when you do up the girth. In the centre you will find 3 D-rings for attaching schooling aids or other training equipment.
Worth knowing: this model is not anatomically shaped. Kentucky makes a separate version for that, the Kentucky Sheepskin Anatomic Girth, with a cut-back at the elbows, an EVA inner layer and a removable cover. The Sheepskin Girth is the simpler option: a straight girth with sheepskin that goes into the washing machine in one piece after you ride.
At Maddelin it is available in four colour combinations, Brown/Natural, Brown, Black/Natural and Black, in lengths from 95 cm to 140 cm.
