The Heiniger 53/23 is a screw-on blade set with a cutting height of 1.0 mm. It therefore clips very short and leaves only a short layer of coat standing. The set belongs to the Heiniger clippers that work with screw-on blades and is intended for grooms, yards and professionals who want a short, neat clipping result.
About this blade set
Heiniger runs two blade systems side by side, and that is immediately the most important question before you order. The Xperience, Xplorer and Progress use screw-on blades: two separate blades that you screw onto the clipper together. The Saphir, Opal and Onyx use snap-on blade sets, which you change as one complete unit without tools. The 53/23 belongs to the first system and therefore does not fit a snap-on clipper.
With Heiniger screw-on blades the first number is the bottom blade, and that is what sets the cutting height. The second number stands for the moving top blade and does not change the cutting length. For the 53/23 that comes down to 1.0 mm.
Compared with the standard sets from the same system, that is short. The 31/15 and 31/23 leave 2 to 4 mm, the 31F/15 and 31F/23 another 1 to 2 mm. The 53/23 goes below that at 1.0 mm and gives an even, short clipping line.
