The Premiere large clipper blade is the replacement blade for the large machine of the Premiere Merlin Duo (item 801952). It combines a ceramic top blade with a ventilated bottom blade and clips at an adjustable cutting length of 0.8 to 3.2 mm. Meant for anyone who wants to keep their Merlin sharp for full body clipping of horses.
About this blade
This is the original large clipper blade from the Merlin Duo set, item number 802941. It belongs to the large machine, the one you clip the body, neck and shoulder with. For the small trimmer from the same set there is a separate small blade.
The top blade is ceramic. The bottom blade is made by powder metallurgy: the steel is pressed together from metal powder instead of being cast. According to Premiere that combination gives less friction between the two blades and better heat dissipation.
The bottom blade has a ventilation structure. Air can pass through those openings, so the blade gets less hot during longer clipping sessions. When you are taking off a full winter coat, heat build-up is the main reason you have to pause, so every blade that stays cooler keeps you working for longer.
The cutting length is adjustable from 0.8 to 3.2 mm. With the same blade you clip short as well as a little longer, depending on the season, the clip pattern and how much coat you want to leave.
